Chica Andrade is a filmmaker whose career is defined by bold storytelling and meaningful impact.
She was one of just twelve filmmakers worldwide selected for the prestigious American Film Showcase International Workshop at the University of Southern California. She was also chosen as one of six global fellows for the Sundance Institute’s Trans Possibilities Intensive, a program that supports projects by transgender storytellers of color.
In 2022, Chica took part in Berlinale Talents, further establishing her presence on the international stage.
She co-directed the reality series Segura Essa Pose, which premiered on Globoplay on International Pride Day 2024 and became the platform’s third most-watched title for two consecutive weeks.
Chica is also the director and screenwriter of We Are All Here (Estamos Todos Aqui), a powerful short film about a disowned trans woman that received 42 awards across the globe — including honors at Brazilian Cinema Night in Cannes — and achieved Oscar eligibility in 2018.
During her time in Hollywood, she completed the screenplay for a biopic about Erika Hilton, the groundbreaking congresswoman and LGBTQIA+ rights activist. The feature film is currently in post-production.
