Luiz Whately is a director whose creative eye moves seamlessly between live action and a refined aesthetic approach, always in service of storytelling.
In 2025, he won a Gold Lion in Film Series & Audio and a Silver Lion in Diversity & Inclusion at the Cannes Lions Festival, along with three shortlists — including Film — for Kyikatêjê, an independent project he co-created and directed. The film went on to receive 50 awards worldwide, including Gold Lion in Film, Series & Audio, a Grand Prix in Production at Ciclope Latino, Fusion Cube at ADC Awards and a Graphite Pencil in Long Form Film at D&Ad.
